When did you acquire your store?

September 2023.

Tell us your story, what’s your background?

I moved to Wellington from Tauranga to study Architectural Drafting in 2013. My Uncle, Paul, owned BurgerFuel Lower Hutt and he offered me some part-time work so I had some income whilst studying. I soon realised I preferred working over studying, so I put a pause on study and chose to focus on working at BurgerFuel. I eventually decided to finish studying, and I worked as an Architectural Designer until 2022, when I bumped into my old area manager, Krystina Nottle, mid-rush on a Friday at the Mount Maunganui store. She said she would text me and later ended up offering me a job. I accepted and quickly realised it was great to be back amongst the people and store culture, and how much I had missed it.

Early this year, whilst working in The Mount, I got a call from my Uncle Paul telling me that an opportunity had come up to purchase BurgerFuel Porirua. My time spent working for Krystina had reminded me how much I loved being part of the BurgerFuel family, and I was stoked that an opportunity had come up for me to further involve myself. Fast forward a few months, and I was moving back down to Wellington to start preparing to take over the BurgerFuel in Porirua!

What made you want to be a part of the BurgerFuel family?

One of my favourite things about working for BurgerFuel is the bustling environment and store culture. Can't beat the vibe of a busy shift with an enthusiastic crew!

I also really enjoy the aspect of people development. Watching staff grow and develop into their full potential shift after shift is something I get a great amount of satisfaction from.

What do you love about the Brand?

Their relaxed, yet professional approach to customer service. You can just be yourself and don’t need to fit into the PC-ness of today’s society. We respectfully give a fuck.

What’s the best part of being a part of your local community?

I haven’t been living in this community long, but as I’ve come to find out the locals are bloody passionate. I’m looking forward to getting amongst it all and being a part of the community!

Other than your store, what’s your favourite place to go in your community (doesn’t have to be food related)?

I love how easily you can find beautiful places to go walking, running and swimming in Wellington. I love how diverse the landscape is here, and how you can find outrageous sunsets from so many different places!

What’s your favourite BurgerFuel burger (including any modifiers)?

Bacon BBQ Roadster (swap beef for grilled chicken breast), add beetroot, jalapenos and motobites.

What is your best BurgerFuel hack?
