Creative, Sweet Sketchup Episode 25. with Katalla Scott

MEET KATALLA SCOTT

Based in Tāmaki Makaurau, Katalla Scott is a multidisciplinary artist in her third year of studying Design and Contemporary Art. Before moving into visual art, Katalla spent majority of her life in the street dance scene, and that background continues to shape the way she approaches creativity and the body in her practice.

Through drawing, painting, and mixed media, Katalla explores the human form as a way of communicating emotion, memory, and shared human experience. Outside of the studio, you’ll usually find Katalla with her sketchbook, drawing every day and enjoying the quieter process of studying the human form in everyday moments. Katalla has a love for creating in these less intense spaces, where drawing becomes both a practice and a way of slowing down and observing the world around her.
