Becoming a Store Manager was an opportunity Mark just couldn’t turn down. From visiting on a Friday night to working his way up to Store Manager at our Ferrymead Store, he has a passion to continuously upskill and take any opportunity that comes his way. Mark proves himself time and time again, by putting the customers first. He feels like he's done his job right when he can see that a customer has had a great experience in-store.

How did you first get involved with BurgerFuel? Back in the day, I frequented my local BurgerFuel most Friday nights. After having returned to NZ from a year abroad I was looking for my next opportunity. I saw an ad for BurgerFuel vacancies and thought why the hell not?
What was the thing that attracted you the most to BurgerFuel? Definitely the burgers first and foremost! For sure though I always thought the people and culture at BurgerFuel was something special that you don't often come across in hospitality. It's great to see a business celebrate the individuality of staff members and that really brings a unique atmosphere. I was at a stage of my life where the most important thing to me in a job was enjoying myself, and I could certainly see that with BurgerFuel.
What do you tell your mates and family about BurgerFuel, what are the perks and best parts of being part of the store staff? My role right now is so varied, I get to work behind the scenes on administration and day-to-day operations while still having the opportunity to work with the team, make great food, and give amazing service. Nothing beats the energy of working through a busy rush with the team like a well-oiled machine!
What motivates and makes you proud to represent the BurgerFuel brand? Giving customers an amazing experience. I'm extremely proud of the brand because of the product and the service we give. When we get amazing feedback, I know that my job is done and I can feel good that I've made someone's day. Going above and beyond and having that recognized is really what drives me.
What is one of the greatest opportunities BurgerFuel has given you? Having worked over three different franchises within the brand means I have really upskilled and been given amazing opportunities by each franchisee. Honestly, BurgerFuel has not stopped throwing opportunities at me, I've had so many different roles and worked with some amazing people. I have a lot of respect for all the Store Managers and franchisees who I've worked under (you know who you are). My greatest opportunity to date would be taking on a Store Manager role. It's really cool to take charge of a team and let them grow in their positions. I'm always amazed by the level of talent as well as their positive attitudes and I can't wait to see how far we can go together.
What is one thing you would say to any potential individual who is looking to work at BurgerFuel? Send in that application. As someone who started with absolutely zero hospitality experience, I'm testament to the fact that this brand will take you as far as you want to go. All you need is a good attitude.
