FEEDING THE LEGENDS: Race4Life

Posted by BurgerFuel

Every month we shout burgers to the legends among us who give back to their community or help people in need.

This month, we want to get some awareness out there for a charity that is very close to our heart, Race4Life. Race4Life is an organisation that grants wishes to New Zealanders with life limiting illness all over the country by arranging amazing experiences for these very special people and their families. These kinds of experiences can range from a hāngi for whānau, to a helicopter tour of Queenstown, or even a rip around the racetrack in a supercar.

These initiatives not only benefit the Palliative Care Patient, but can bring together families and their community during, often tragic, cases of bereavement, to help them process grief in a healthy and meaningful way.

For the past few years, BurgerFuel have been honoured to be involved with Race4Life, by donating meals to wish recipients as a part of their experience.

The Trust not only fulfils wishes of Palliative Care Patients throughout the country, but they also put on amazing events for patients each year. For 13 years, they have coordinated the Race4Life Track Day at Hampton Downs, which hosts 80 patients and 400 volunteers, giving these recipients a full throttle experience.

Since 2015, Race4Life have fulfilled over 500 wishes and since Covid-19, they are operating with a skeleton staff of just 5 people. Read more about Viv and the incredible work she and her team do HERE.
