BurgerFuel x Forty Thieves

Founded in 2016, Forty Thieves has grown from making one box of nut butters in a day (in a simple blender!) to producing approx. 10,000 jars every week.  

After training in endurance sports for many years, Brent and Shyr used peanut butter as natural fuel, so making their own peanut butter felt like a natural and necessary step. With Nutrition at the forefront, they believe that health is wealth and keeping products as natural as possible is the best way forward.

We first meet the pair when they started the business, as we explored a way for them to help us produce our world-famous peanut sauce, used in our crowd favourite, the Peanut Piston and Combustion Tofu. We wanted to create a new Peanut Sauce, that was locally made, by a New Zealand company, which held a lot of the same values as us, naturally it became a very good fit with the Forty Thieves team and the hero ingredient was formed.

Unfortunately, on a dark day in 2016, we took our beloved Peanut Piston and Combustion Tofu off the menu, in turn putting the Peanut Sauce with Forty Thieves on the shelf. But the demand for its return has been consistent, and loud, and the Peanut Piston has made its return in 2025, and even more excitingly, so is our peanut sauce.

Since then, the Forty Thieves team have gone on to win multiple awards for their Nut Butter range, with them most recently having their crunchy peanut butter take out the gold medal in the Outstanding Food Producer Awards 2025, along with many of their other products placing in the top three spots in their category.

Whilst their products and taste profile are important, giving back to the community is an equal focus for the Hibiscus Coast company. From supporting local forests and bird life charities to their local bird life itself, ensuring that they are helping to reduce the effects of their production on the environment is a focus driven from Brent and Shyr. They also work with local soup kitchens, helping supply good quality ingredients to support the making of nutritious meals for those in need.
