MEET FILIGA, 2021'S NEWEST FRANCHISEE

Posted by BurgerFuel

BurgerFuel has been keeping it Kiwi since '95, and we're proud of it. We might have an undying passion for American Muscle cars, but we have always been locally owned and operated, where you'll find Franchisees behind the grill, having a yarn with you at the till or sweeping the entrance.

Our people are the core of our brand, and we want to showcase some of the Franchisees that put the oil into operating our stores, along with their own blood, sweat and tears.

Meet Filiga Suiki (also known as Fili), from Cuba Street!

Being one of our newest Franchisees, Fili has been fueling our Cuba Street store since April this year while doing it seamlessly, albeit in the midst of a pandemic.

Originally from Samoa, Fili grew up in Auckland, with a stint across the ditch from 2012 to 2019, before settling in the big ol’ Capital in Wellington. Fili’s vast experience in the hospitality industry has led her to joining the BurgerFuel family and becoming Cuba Street’s Franchisee.

“I love it here, the weather and the scenery around Wellington is beautiful. I love going on bush walks and getting out into mother nature in my spare time”.

Fili recalls the challenges starting out her training at BurgerFuel Ponsonby which pushed her outside of her comfort zone, whilst  learning the in’s and out’s of working for the Fuel. But soon she became fully immersed in BurgerFuel style, and her dedication, resilience and passion for the brand has contributed to Cuba's Street's success.

“To become a Franchisee of BurgerFuel Cuba Street is a dream come true. Do not let anyone discourage you, that you can’t achieve your dream”.

Fili’s love for the fresh ingredients, the culture and vibe of the store is second to none. Fili wouldn’t want her life any other way, constantly praising her amazing team that have helped her along the way. Her passion and drive also comes from her love of her customers and the local community as she loves supporting local businesses, schools and events around the city.

“I love getting my hands dirty, and making quality burgers. I would rather be on the grill, work with an incredible team, and interact with my customers than be anywhere else. Even better, the music on Radio BurgerFuel on a Friday night just gives you that much more fuel to work!”

The next time you’re in the Welly-hood area, check into Cuba Street to say hey to Fili and the team and grab some gourmet burgers! If you get the chance to chat to Fili, she might even fill you in on some of her BurgerFuel hacks with adding some of the best modifiers to your order, or she might even make you her favourite combo of combining the Bacon BBQ Roadster with eggs!
