King Of The Square

Posted by BurgerFuel

This is the newest and biggest skating event in Christchurch and BurgerFuel was proud to be fuelling up the skaters as they all fought to be King of the Square!

An invitation only skating event, where skaters came from all over New Zealand to compete. The major prizes were made up of cash and BurgerFuel vouchers; but probably more important to them, respect and being able to call themselves the champ.

Held in Cathedral Square, in the shadows of the cathedral itself, a crowd of well over 1,500 people gathered to watch the skaters strut their stuff. The competition was based around one staircase – stair jumps and rail tricks.

Simultaneously to this event, BurgerFuel created its own mini-event, with all the skaters and spectators unable to gather around the one staircase, could instead participated in our activities. Some may even say we stole the show for a while, as pro skaters joined in while they did tricks and jumps over our BurgerFuel promo team – that’s right, we had a promo team of 5 girls sitting in a row, with skaters popping tricks off ramps over their heads. All in the name of “Damn, that’s cool”.

With 7 BurgerFuel staff handing out freshly cooked BurgerFuel, vouchers and flyers, it was no wonder that everyone headed to the local BurgerFuel store for a feed afterwards. As always, we had a really high demand for our kid’s tattoos and stickers. A great event and one to watch out for in the future.
