Music Meal: Minuit - Last Night You Saw This Band

Nelsonians Minuit dropped their 4th LP proper just before Christmas. Frontwoman Ruth Carr blogged about the title track Last Night You Saw This Band “you think…maybe you will never like any music ever again and then you hear a song and you think, yay, it’s like you gave me a gift of liking music again!” That’s a pretty bold statement, but with this song it works. Every time I listen to it I do just feel happy.

It’s not really symptomatic of the whole album though. It includes the influences from Ruth's time in Rarotonga on Islands, and Minuit at thier moody best on Ghost and guitar driven The Love That Won’t Shut Up. Another favourite of mine is Warheads which comes from the same vein as I Hate You (from Find Me Before I Die…). It’s possibly the nicest song you can imagine given the lyrics "how can we settle this? Let’s settle it with bombs."

This is Minuit on form and moving forward.
