BurgerFuel COVID-19 Health & Safety Protocols

Please feel reassured that we have strict COVID-19 hygiene protocols in place respective to our staff, our food preparation and to the regimented cleaning of our kitchens and dining rooms. The health & safety of our staff and customers remains our highest priority and below are some key measures we are taking to ensure we are providing the safest environment possible:

Staff Hygiene: Staff have undergone COVID-19 specific online safety training and are required to sanitise and wash hands frequently.

Customer & Staff Wellbeing: Our staff are required to stay at home if unwell and we ask the same of our customers. If you are unwell or unsure, please call Healthline on 0800 358 5453. In support of our staff, we ask that customers please understand that, in accordance with government advice, staff are not encouraged to enforce any COVID-19 customer protocols, such as, facemask wearing, in the instance of non-compliance and if it is likely to put them in a confrontational situation (Health and Safety at Work Act, 2015).

Food Preparation: Where possible staff are executing touchless food preparation, cooking, stacking, bagging and serving. Our staff are required to wear gloves for specific procedural duties in the kitchen, such as handling raw meat in the prepping stage, with care to avoid cross contamination. New Zealand Food Safety advises that gloves can create a warm, moist environment that can foster bacteria and regular hand washing is the best way for food handlers to get rid of illness-causing bacteria and viruses. Additional to this, BurgerFuel is dedicated to lessening our impact on the environment where possible and certified food safe disposable gloves can only be disposed of via landfill. Therefore, we have taken the stance of only necessary use of gloves and to ensure hand hygiene is paramount in our stores.

Facemasks: All customers and customer-facing staff are required to wear face masks correctly when in store and while mandated during the COVID-19 Protection Framework, respective to region. For health & safety reasons, some non-customer facing staff (i.e staff working at the grill) are not required to wear facemasks, in accordance with the Covid-19 business food & drink guidelines found HERE. Staff and customers with Facemask exemptions are not required to wear them in store. Staff are not required to enforce mask wearing in situations of non-compliance. Kitchens and Dining Rooms: Undergo frequent cleaning with a particular focus on high touch surfaces.

Physical Distancing: We continue to adhere to physical distancing guidelines in our stores as mandated during the COVID-19 Protection Framework Traffic Light System, respective to region, and ask that our customers do also.

Queue Control: A crowd controller may be stationed during peak periods to ensure customers are observing safe physical distancing as mandated during the COVID-19 Protection Framework.

Online Ordering Management: During peak periods we will ensure online order management to monitor congestion. Please note that your ability to online order may be put on hold if a store is experiencing an influx of orders, or if there are any issues which may contribute to crowding in store i.e eftpos system down.
